Learning languages with ICT: What do you recommend?

By:
Claudia Linares, English tutor at CTTAOA, SENA.

The diversification of today's education involves various methods beyond the old formal educational model that required synchronous teacher guidance and in-person attendance at specific hours and locations. Nowadays, effective language learning implies greater independence, supported by ICT resources such as communities of practice, social networks, applications, etc., which ensure motivation, interaction, language competence, results, and access to authentic, enjoyable, appropriate, and current materials. So, what technological resources or tools would you recommend for learning languages in a fun way and why?

  1. Hi. I already speak English pretty well but it does not mean my learning process is over. Instead I think it is an ongoing process where practice makes my English get better. Knowledge is something you apply and hone over time. What works the most for me is listening to music, reading short stories and watching TV in English. Lately, I've been watching social media reels and it has been a good strategy too to learn slang and to sound like a native speaker.

  11. Good afternoon, I'm Andres Vargas from 2627108 ADSO group. I'm pretty sure the best guide or form to learn a correct language is practicing it. I mean if you are working o studing a technology career you can enjoy the process to try to practicing; yes it would be embarrasing to the beging but after first time I know you can discover a great capacity in yourself. And you can try it whatever your career is. I also really think our ears is the direct canal to improve our language so linstening to other people speak it and trying to practice is the best way. (this is my opinion :) .

It's an app that helps you chat with people around the world who are looking to learn English with native speakers. So, you can exchange information. Imagine you want to speak English, so you're looking for someone whose native language is English, and this person wants to learn Spanish. Both of you chat, and each one teaches the other your respective languages while practicing a new language. it's a good tool to practice. i hope that you enjoy the app.

Every time I see an English phrase somewhere I look it up and interpret it, to learn more. I think learning English is not just looking it up once, but taking it in a fun or everyday way. One enjoyable and useful method I have found for learning basic English, like the one I currently know, is by listening to children's songs in English with my son. The vocabulary used is simple, the sentences are short, and the musical theme helps improve pronunciation and listening skills. The visual aspect is helpful because everything being said is represented in the video. For example, there is a song titled ''Wheels on the Bus with Baby Animals | @CoComelon | Animal Time Nursery Rhymes''.
